Film Around Philly

This blog is headquartered in Glenside, PA - a good 30 minutes from Philly by train. It only makes sense to support film-related institutions close by.

Greater Philadelphia Film Office - http://www.film.org/Philadelphia/public/Home.aspx
"The Greater Philadelphia Film Office (GPFO) is a "film commission" representing southeastern Pennsylvania that officially serves the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia. We are a member of the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI)."

The Philadelphia Film Society - http://filmadelphia.org/
"The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS)’s mission is to utilize film’s unique capacity to engage a broad cross-section of the community, while further providing access to powerful films from around the world in order to increase education and understanding."

Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival - http://www.phillyasianfilmfest.org/
"A film festival celebrating and elevating the Asian American experience."

Fun fact: Rob Buscher, an adjunct professor at Arcadia University who teaches Japanese Cinema and Anime, was the programming director of last year's PAAFF in November. Jen Retter of Arcadia University's The Bulletin interviews Prof. Buscher on his experience.
